When we need to verify identity or connect a bank account, trusted partners handle it. We pass it through and we do not keep it.
SSNs are collected only for identity verification through our payment and verification partners, and are not retained by Shuk.
Rent moves by ACH through Dwolla, which is SOC 2 Type II audited. Zero ACH transaction fees for landlords.
Renters connect their bank through Plaid, which is SOC 2 Type II audited. Plaid also checks the balance before a transfer starts.
Card details are tokenized by Stripe, so the card number never sits in Shuk. If a renter pays by card, the 3% + $0.30 convenience fee is shown before they confirm.
Every payment request shows where it stands: Requested, Paid, Marked as Paid, Declined, or Cancelled.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and every request to our database and file storage passes through security rules before it is allowed.
Google Cloud infrastructure holds SOC 2, SOC 3, and ISO/IEC 27001 certifications. These are Google's certifications. Shuk is not itself SOC 2 certified.
Every user signs in through Firebase Authentication.
What someone can see and do depends on their role, enforced at the data layer, not just in the app.
Shuk is split into small services, so a problem in one integration does not take the platform down.
Rent arrives by bank transfer with zero ACH transaction fees. You never handle a renter's card or bank credentials, and screening results come back through our screening partner without raw credit scores being stored in Shuk.
Shuk uses third-party partners for payments, bank connections, and screening. Partner certifications belong to those partners.
