We're building a platform that makes renting better for both landlords and tenants. At Shuk, we believe that transparent, efficient property management leads to better experiences for everyone.
Transforming the Rental Experience
Shuk began with a frustration familiar to many landlords: Despite being attentive and responsive property owners, there was no way to showcase this quality to potential renters. Every tenant turnover meant starting from scratch, losing all the goodwill built with previous renters.
Our founder, Oliver, experienced this firsthand. As a dedicated landlord, he wanted a way to demonstrate his track record of quality management and reliability. This challenge sparked the creation of Shuk's two-way rating system, and soon led to innovations addressing other rental market pain points, including year-round marketing and our Lease Indication Tool.

From idea to reality: the story of how Shuk came to be
2021
The Idea Takes Shape
After years of managing properties, Oliver recognized the need for better tools for independent landlords. The concept for Shuk began as sketches in a computer and conversations with fellow property owners.
2022
Building the Foundation
Manoj joined the team, bringing technical expertise to transform the vision into reality. After months of research and development, the first prototype of Shuk was created.
2023 / 2024
Growing the Team
Miles came aboard to refine the user experience and streamline operations. The team expanded and began beta testing with a select group of landlords in Minnesota, while building the necessary home rental software features.
2025
Launching to the Public
After incorporating valuable feedback from beta users, Shuk officially launched to the public, focusing first on serving landlords in the Twin Cities region with plans for rapid expansion.

With over 10 years of experience managing multiple properties throughout the Twin Cities, Oliver understands the challenges independent landlords face. His background in accounting and general contracting brings a practical perspective to Shuk's mission.

CTO & Co-Founder
Manoj brings over a decade of tech leadership experience from companies like Yahoo R&D and HCL-Hewlett Packard. Combined with his personal experience as a landlord, he leads Shuk's development with both technical expertise and user empathy.
Miles Lerner
President & Co-Founder
Miles brings his background as a renter and experience in investment banking to Shuk, specializing in both depository institutions and financial services. His deep expertise in finance, M&A advisory, and capital markets informs Shuk's strategic decisions and deal structuring.
